Did you ever lose your interest when using your action cam or GoPro? “Out of memory” is the situation that you sometimes faced with while enjoying the beautiful scene or unforgettable moments; you definitely can’t stand with it.
The memory capacity is always an important thing you need to care before doing any trips, especially for someone who is in need of taking photos or recording videos.
The memory capacity is also as important as battery capacity. Therefore GoPro price does not include the memory card price, it depends on how much capacity you need to use.
In this article, we will give you some ideas to choose the right memory card using with your GoPro. We are sure that with the new GoPro, GoPro Hero 5, coming up next year, these memory cards still do their good job without any changes.
There are many threads complaining about failing in choosing memory card. There are no clear instruction about how to choose the right one. Because more and more brands are coming out.
We only recommend 3 brands: Sandisk, Samsung and Lexar. Keep reading to find out why.
Keep scrolling to see the GOPRO COMPATIBLE MEMORY CARD TABLE that I already tested. If you try other brands, not what I recommend, good luck to you.
*All cameras need be a minimum of Class 10. The HERO camera only supports up to a 32GB card. HERO3 Black Edition, HERO3+, HERO+ and HERO+ LCD cameras support up to 64GB. HERO4 and HERO Session cameras support up to 128GB.
Today, I will make some suggestions for those who wants to buy the best GoPro memory card. I have used all three choices until now and I am pleased to share my experiences to everyone. Please check the following cards (you can click the link to see more details):
This Sandisk Extreme MICROSDXC 64GB 90MB/S Flash Memory Card is designed for recording 4K Ultra HD and Full HD video. This memory card is totally suitable for those who are using GoPro Black. So in case if you want to make 4K video, it is the right choice. However, despite you are using Black or other GoPro, it is still suitable for everyone, just in case you could upgrade to GoPro Black in the future, it is not necessary to upgrade the memory card. Moreover, everyone knows that GoPro Cameras is also capable to use underwater, hence sometimes, your hands are getting wet, it is so harmful to take out the memory card in this case. Therefore, Sandisk has equipped the waterproof, shock proof, x-ray proof and temperature proof functions for this card.
It is still suitable for everyone, just in case you could upgrade to GoPro Black in the future, it is not necessary to upgrade the memory card
Additionally, by using the SD adapter, you can plug it in your computer and run the memory card program (you can download it here). Rescue Pro Deluxe software will help you to save any lost files to your computer even they were deleted long times ago. I remembered there are a few times I forgot to back-up my photos to the computer, after formatting the card, I lost all the photos I’ve taken months ago, I wish there is a miracle to help me recover these photos. This software might be the reply of my wish. From now on, I don’t need to worry about losing photos anymore.
Remember not to use with GoPro Hero, it is not compatible. It is only compatible with GoPro Hero+, Hero3+ and Hero4
Samsung recently becomes a popular brand in many industries. Samsung’s memory card with Read speed up to 95MB/s and Write speed up to 90MB/s, it is completely the highes capacity accepted to use with GoPro Cameras to record Full HD and 4k videos. With a beautiful design, you are easily recognised the different capacity by colors. Same as Sandisk and Lexar, Samsung’s memory card is also waterproof, temperature proof, x-ray proof and magnetic proof. You can find a SD adapter in the package.
Remember this card is only compatible with GoPro Hero4 Black, Silver and Session
Although there are also 4 options from 16GB to 128GB, I strongly recommend you to use 32GB as the minimum capacity in order to record the videos.
Samsung is the cheapest brand in these 3 brands.
You can check it here:
Last but not least, Lexar High Performance MicroSDHC card is considered as the top rated card to use with GoPro cameras. With the read speed up to 95MB/s, it is the premium solution for sport camcorders, tablets and smartphones. There are 4 available choices of capacity from 16GB to 128GB.
Lexar comes with the highest quality and also the most expensive brand in these 3 brands. However, we always prefer this brand to be the best GoPro memory card because data is very important to us. we want to minimize the risk of losing data.

MAINTENANCE AND STORING
Compared with other forms of memory card, the Micro SD card is better built. However, in order to use it longer, we need to remember to keep it in a clean, dry and try not to bend, snap the card to avoid breaking it. Just in case you use many different cards, please remember to use a dedicated case to store it.
Before you unmount your card, please turn off the GoPro first. Additionally, before removing it from your computer, please follow the unmount step. If you totally follow these rules, you could stay away from the situations of corrupting and losing files.
In conclusion, I hope through this post, you can pick what you really need. Based on my experience, the technology changes everyday, therefore we just need to buy what we really need now in order to save the money and use it economically, rather than buying the high tech one but wastefully because it is out of our demand. However, for the best GoPro memory card, I recommend you should refer to the following table.
